San Diego

I have a three day weekend, Grant gets that same weekend scheduled off... what's a couple to do???

Spend the weekend in San Diego!!!

We got a great rate at a Marriot Residence Inn. Grant drove down in the afternoon and I took the train after work.

The train ride wwas somewhat eventful... There was this drunk guy wandering the cars. A lady told the conductor that he had thrown up by the cafe car, and some other guys were saying that he was being pretty unruly, and weaving about. A few minuted later he came back, followed shortly by the conductor, mumbling about how some guy bought him the beer becasue he was impressed that this guy was s uch a profesional skateboarder. Aparently the conductors were concerned, among other things, becasue he was drinking the beer our of a bottle that was broken on top (his response? "I've done worse!" The conductor took him down to the cafe car to get him a cup to pur the beer in and to make sure it wasn't stolen. He came back a while later looking for his stuff and a lady said, "weren't you sitting in another car?" anjd he goes, "oh yeah, thats right, I was..."

We finally get to San Diego (after a few stops "to let other trains pass us on the tracks..." which could possibly be true.) As we were getting ready to get off of the train there was an announcement. "Please be patient, as the doors will not be opening right away. The doors will not open until the Police get into position." Sure enough, the arrersted the guy!!!

Anyways, Grant met me at the station, and we walked back to our hotel together. After dropping my stuff off, we drove over to Bala Hai, right on the bay, where we ate dinner. It was really good! We had an appetizer sampler with coconut shrimp, egg rolls, a crab cake, coconut ribs, and pele's nachos, which were wantons with cheese, sour cream, and pineapple salsa.

For dinner, I had grilled shrimp and macadamia breaded chicken, and Grant had a fish combo with macademia breaded Mahi-Mahi, seared Ahi, and something else. For dessert, we had a macademia nut brownie topped with coffee gelato. A ton of food (we took a lot home!) but really good!!!

By the time we left, it was raining! We went back to the hotel and watched TV.

Our hotel room is cool. Its like a studio. There is a full kitchen with a stove, fridge, microwave and dishwasher, a nd a bar to eat at, a desk (where i a m now...) an L-shaped couch in the sitting area, and then the bed. The TV us in a dresser in the center which can be turned to face the couch or the bed, which is nice, Our room overlooks the pool courtyard. We are very near the trains, which go by frequently and nlow their horns during the day, but were fine at night.

We have some exciting things planned for this weekend, so stay tuned!!!
