Camping in Santa Barbara

In January, Grant and I and Belle and Kanga went camping in Santa Barbara. We went to the Jalama beach campground which was really nice...it had a playground, hot showers, a store, and of course it was right on the beach. The major drawback was all of the campsites were quite close to eachother and ddin't offer a lot of privacy. Luckily, there weren't a lot of people there.

The weather was nice... not too cold as we feared. The first night is rained and Belle wigged out and tried to sleep up on t6he airmatress with us. Which might not be so bad had we not been in sleeping bags... Belle would get on top, pushing us to the edges up against the zippered part of the bag... not comfortable!!!

The next morning, we woke up to the sounds of what sounded like thousands of seagulls... (well, we are on the beach right???) Well, sure, and if you are on the beach and you want to attract seagulls, leave the dog food out!!!

The nixt night, after carefully putting away the dog food in the box and sealiong down the lid, we slept peacefully until about 4 AM when a loud crashing sound woke us and Grant dissciveres a racoon knocking over the bok to get into the dog food.

By the third night we were smart enough to leave the dog food locked in the van. Hee hee...

All in all, it was a lot of fun and very relaxing, We read, walked on the beach, and had yummy camping food. It was a good time!
