Lamington National Park

On Tuesday, we visited Lamington National Park. The drive was about an hour and a half, with about half the drive taking us on windy mountain roads. We arrived around eleven at O'Reilly's Rainforest retreat. We did the sky walk, which was a fun elevated walk through the tree tops on shaky suspension bridges! Fun! In the middle there was a ladder that took us up even higher into a tree on a platform to take some more photographs. We took turns on the ladders, while Geoff had fun on the bridges.

Next, we went in to the botanical forest garden, which had lots of winding paths. We let Geoff take the lead on this one, and he roamed about the garden, leading us all over!

After this walk, we stopped for lunch at O'Reilly's. We ate out on the patio where lots of parrots (and the occasional bush turkey) flew up to try to get snacks from patrons' lunches. Geoffrey enjoyed feeding his french fries to the parrots.

Before heading back, we took a 3km hike through the rainforest to a scenic overlook of a valley and a waterfall.  The hike was beautiful, with thick trees, hanging ferns, and chirping birds.

We finished our hike and then headed back to our condo. After a brief rest, we went to the Coolangatta Surf Club for dinner - Geoff had a corndog, Gary and Grant had dishes with fishes, and Blake and I had bacon wrapped scallops. Then Grant and I took Geoff to the playground while Gary and Blake played slot machines in the gaming room for awhile.

Walking back to our unit, Blake pointed out that Glee! the 3-d movie concert was starting at the movie theater in 5 minutes. So I took Grant's wallet and went to watch the film (I was the ONLY PERSON in the theater! Ha ha!) The boys went back to the condo and watched tv and put Geoffrey to bed while I sang along and enjoyed my private screening.
